Oshkosh Choraliers
Choraliers History
The Oshkosh Choraliers began in 1970 when the Apollo
male chorus and the Cecilian Singers were disbanding.
Our first concert was held on March 23, 1971 at the Webster
Stanley school auditorium under the direction of Dr. Harold
Porter, with Mrs. Thomas Kuble as pianist and a chorus
membership of 60.
The Grand Opera House eventually became our concert hall
and continued until our membership increase forced our
move to our present location in the Alberta Kimball Hall.
In 1992 Mary Backus became director, with Todd Repp
joining the group as accompanist shortly thereafter.
Concert's typically included classical, gospel, rock, swing
and jazz pieces and, in the past few years we've added
dance choreography.
To date, membership has stayed stable between 75 to 90
members. The 2007 concert was performed for over 900
people. The group has stayed financially healthy using fund
raising and grant writing.
The Choraliers is a mixed chorus who's only requirement
for membership is the love of song and singing. Our season
typically begins in January, and meets once weekly
concluding with our annual concert held the first week in
May.
If you love music, and love to sing, why not join us, and help
us share our love of music with our community.
